Don't Get Me Wrong by the Pretenders

Rediscovered this song the other night:

DON'T GET ME WRONG
IF I'M LOOKING KIND OF DAZZLED
I SEE NEON LIGHTS
WHENEVER YOU WALK BY

DON'T GET ME WRONG
IF YOU SAY "HELLO" AND I TAKE A RIDE
UPON A SEA WHERE THE MYSTIC MOON
IS PLAYING HAVOC WITH THE TIDE
DON'T GET ME WRONG

DON'T GET ME WRONG
IF I'M ACTING SO DISTRACTED
I'M THINKING ABOUT THE FIREWORKS
THAT GO OFF WHEN YOU SMILE

DON'T GET ME WRONG
IF I SPLIT LIKE LIGHT REFRACTED
I'M ONLY OFF TO WANDER
ACROSS A MOONLIT MILE

ONCE IN AWHILE
TWO PEOPLE MEET
SEEMINGLY FOR NO REASON
THEY JUST PASS ON THE STREET
SUDDENLY THUNDER, SHOWERS EVERYWHERE
WHO CAN EXPLAIN THE THUNDER AND RAIN
BUT THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE AIR

DON'T GET ME WRONG
IF I COME AND GO LIKE FASHION
I MIGHT BE GREAT TOMORROW
BUT HOPELESS YESTERDAY

DON'T GET ME WRONG
IF I FALL IN THE 'MODE OF PASSION'**
IT MIGHT BE UNBELIEVABLE
BUT LET'S NOT SAY "SO LONG"
IT MIGHT JUST BE FANTASTIC
DON'T GET ME WRONG

** From the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 14, that says, "Material nature consists of the three modes--goodness, passion and ignorance. When the living entity comes in contact with nature, he becomes conditioned by these modes." (verse 5)

"The mode of passion is born of unlimited desires and longings, O son of Kunti, and because of this one is bound to material fruitive activities." (verse 7)

"O chief of the Bharatas, when there is an increase in the mode of passion, the symptoms of great attachment, uncontrollable desire, hankering, and intense endeavor develop." (verse 12)

I didn't already know all of that. I just wanted to look up why 'Mode of Passion' was in quotation marks in the lyrics, to further understand the song.

And the bold all caps is to make it more readable with this new background, not because I'm yelling it or anything.
