"The One" by Elton John

(lyrics by Bernie Taupin)

I saw you dancing out the ocean
Running fast along the sand
A spirit born of earth and water
Fire flying from your hands

In the instant that you love someone
In the second that the hammer hits
Reality runs up your spine
And the pieces finally fit

And all I ever needed was the one
Like freedom fields where wild horses run
When stars collide like you and I
No shadows block the sun
You're all I've ever needed
Baby you're the one

There are caravans we follow
Drunken nights in dark hotels
When chances breathe between the silence
Where sex and love no longer gel

For each man in his time is Cain
Until he walks along the beach
And sees his future in the water
A long lost heart within his reach

And all I ever needed was the one
Like freedom fields where wild horses run
When stars collide like you and I
No shadows block the sun
You're all I've ever needed
Ooh, baby you're the one

And all I ever needed was the one
Like freedom fields where wild horses run
When stars collide like you and I
No shadows block the sun
You're all I've ever needed
Baby you're the one

I have just fallen in love,
at the age of 44,
to the sweetest, most amazing man.
He's 45 going on 46.

So we were kids when Elton John was making his way up the "food chain" as I like to say. I always loved Elton John's music.
My first love was "Crocodile Rock" when I was in second grade!!

I have been in love before,
and I have been married before, but I had never felt like I had ever found my soul mate.

I suspected he was out there in the world, lost also, like I have been, because we were incomplete without each other. The fact that my previous relationships (to relatively nice guys) had all failed proved this to me.

Thru this process of falling in love with him, after having found him, this song "The One" has kept playing in my mind.

Especially:

"In the instant that you love someone
In the second that the hammer hits
Reality runs up your spine
And the pieces finally fit

And all I ever needed was the one
Like freedom fields where wild horses run
When stars collide like you and I
No shadows block the sun
You're all I've ever needed
Baby you're the one".

It is awesome how music we know and love, is so often there, to say exactly how we feel, to represent exactly what we are going thru.

I love this song, the images of the intensity of love, which I found so powerful and beautiful, had always escaped me.

As a visual thinker, I can picture the strength and beauty of running horses --which I've seen for real and always blows me away-- and the beauty and intensity of celestial bodies coming together in an astronomical and colofrul explosion, which I've seen only in pictures of the universe.

Somewhere in the depths of my being, I knew I wanted to experience a love like that.

And it is now here!

I wish you all the same!!
